What’s on my Fall TBR this year?

I love reading in the Fall. There is nothing better than reading outside on a porch or patio with a small breeze, some tea and a cozy sweatshirt. Here is what is on my list this year.

Fiction Choices

The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie - I always have at least one Agatha Christie on my list for the Fall. I bought this one last Fall and didn’t get a chance to pick it up. I am very excited to dive into it this year.

The Iliad by Homer translated by Emily Wilson - Is this a Fall book? I don’t believe so. For some reason I feel much more brave in the Fall/Winter seasons. I guess it’s because it gets darker earlier so I tend to think I have more time to read. It’s a trick the seasons play on me, but we’ll go with it.

Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson- Going with the big book theme here apparently. High Fantasy just screams cozy weather. I cannot wait to dive into this one. Brandon Sanderson is one of my “must buy” authors. I just love his writing.

The Butcher’s Masquerade (Dungeon Crawler Carl Series) by Matt Dinniman - I have been making my way through this series on my husband’s request. It’s not my usual type of book, but it has been a lot of fun to be reading through the same series and talking about it.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck - I have been staring at this one on my bookshelf and I think now is the perfect time, especially with the show out now. I love reading a book and then watching to film adaptation to see how it holds up.

Non-Fiction Choices

Habits of the Household by Justin Earley - I had pinned this one a while ago and found it in Barnes and Noble randomly. It focuses on bringing God into the daily rhythms of the household. I read the first few pages about his chaotic bedtime routine and I think most of us parents can definitely relate. I’m looking forward to this one.

Philosophy of Education by Charlotte Mason - I am very slowly making my way through this. I read about 10 pages a week. While I love reading Mason’s volumes, I find they take my full concentration which sometimes I just cannot give in the evenings (when is usually when I have time to read).

Rogues: True Stories of Grifters, Killers, Rebels and Crooks by Patrick Radden Keefe - I am just about finished with this one, but I had to add it. I am absolutely loving this book. Patrick writes for the New Yorker and compiled some of his articles into this book. I find them fascinating and I love the way he writes. The audio version is read by him and also really well done. He has other books that I may dive into this Fall if I can get my hands on them.

Considering it’s already October and I have about two months to read all of these books, I probably won’t get through them all. However, this is a great stack to choose from. We’ll see how many make it over to the Winter TBR.

Happy Reading!
